Aurora Continents Series – Unity in diversity

Have you ever thought about how lucky are we to live surrounded by different cultures, lands and traditions? I know… since the pandemic started, everything has changed. We became more selfish, concerned about not getting the virus, neglecting on the other side the people around us and the activities that used to bring us happiness and fulfillment. Among these activities, the one I’m referring to is traveling. For most of us out there, traveling was such a fantastic way to escape normality. Visiting other continents, getting in touch with different cultures, meeting people, making new friends, all of these are missing us now… but we hope better days will come and we’ll be able to reconnect ourselves with others. Until things come back to normal and we’ll be able to travel without any restrictions, I’ve prepared you an amazing series created by Aurora Italy a long time ago, depicting 5 continents and some of their specific characteristics. Will you join me on this journey of exploration?

Regarding Aurora, we have already mentioned this italian institution of writing instruments in our previous articles, so we can focus exclusively on this series. Five Collection paying homage to five continents: Aurora Europa Limited Edition, Aurora America Limited Edition, Aurora Afrika Limited Edition, Aurora Asia Limited Edition and last but not least Aurora Oceania Limited Edition.

AURORA ASIA LIMITED EDITION

My favorite so far is Aurora Asia. As an homage to the Oriental culture, this masterpiece is dedicated to the biggest continent on Earth. Released in just 7.500 pieces, the fountain pen stands out by its incredible decorations found along the body as well on the cap and nib. The cap’s ring is encircled by symbols that represent the oriental culture like – the fan which symbolizes power, Buddha represents wisdom and spirituality, the lotus flower which stands for purity and rebirth symbol, yin and yang – symbols of spiritual joining and the universe symbolized in a pagoda. Both the barrel and the cap are crafted from precious resin and come in a beautiful marbled finish mixing jade and burgundy nuances.

An outline of the continent of Asia is engraved on the top side of the spring clip and the cap’s finial is decorated with a precious green jade just to complement the entire look of the pen. The nib is made of 18kt rhodium treated solid gold nib and regarding the filling mechanism, the fountain pen is provided with Aurora’s generous piston filler. Along with the fountain pen there comes a rollerball, a ballpoint pen and a sketch pencil, featuring the same design.

AURORA AMERICA LIMITED EDITION

Another creation of this series, Aurora America, was released to celebrate a land that once again is waiting to be rediscovered, a land of liberty, prosperity and success. Limited also to 7,500 pieces, the fountain pen comes in marbled resin with shades of white, blue and red symbolizing the colors on the American flag.

The cap’s ring is decorated with emblematic symbols of the American West like a Native American headdress, a pioneer’s covered wagon, desert cactus, American eagle and drawings from the mysterious Nazca Lines of Peru of a condor and a spider.

The cap’s finial is decorated with a semi-precious red jasper stone and the spring clip has engraved in the top side an outline with the American continents. The 18kt white solid gold nib available in in EF, F, Fine Flex, M, B, BB, Factory Italic and Factory Stub widths is complemented by the other chrome elements found along with the fountain pen. The numbered collection also includes a rollerball pen, a ballpoint pen as well as a sketch pencil.

AURORA AFRIKA LIMITED EDITION

Displaying a color scheme of tan and black, characteristic for the African continent, the resin-crafted body suggests open plains, savanna and desert sand. Like Aurora did with the other models, the cap’s ring here is also beautifully decorated with african tribal shields. On the spring clip, there is engraved the African continent while the finial displays a black stone.

Each limited edition pen is numbered with gold engraving. Like the other models, the Aurora Afrika features an 18kt solid gold nib available in in EF, F, Fine Flex, M, B, BB, Factory Italic and Factory Stub widths as well as a piston-filler mechanism. As part of this collection, there comes a rollerball pen, a ballpoint pen and a sketch pencil.

AURORA EUROPA LIMITED EDITION

Another model that pays tribute to Europa comes to complete the series displaying lots of symbols from the european continent. The body has got a resin marbled finish with tones of grey and black.

The cap’s ring is encircled with some of the most important things in the history of Europe like: from factories to the train, from the double helix to the stars, a symbol of the European Community. The cap’s finial displays a blue synthetic quartz while the spring clip has engraved on the top of it, the map of Europe. Regarding the nib, it is crafted from 18kt solid gold and is rhodium plated available in in EF, F, Fine Flex, M, B, BB, Factory Italic and Factory Stub widths. This fountain pen is provided with the same piston-filler mechanism as the other models are. Along with the fountain pen, there comes a rollerball pen, a ballpoint pen as well as a sketch pencil, to close the collection.

AURORA OCEANIA LIMITED EDITION

Last but not least, the Aurora Oceania collection is here to complete the series. Aurora is ending the journey of 5 continents, and so do I, with the planet’s smallest continent which is hosting the most diverse and fascinating areas on the planet by far…
Displaying the scarlet ground of the continent, the body is crafted from precious resin and has a fantastic marbled finish.

For the cap’s ring, Aurora has chosen some key symbols that perfectly reflect the Australian environment like a wallaby, boomerang, turtle, seashell and a gecko. The fountain pen is enhanced with an 18kt rose gold nib available in EF, F, Fine Flex, M, B, BB, Factory Italic and Factory Stub widths. The spring-clip has an engraved on the top of it an outline with the Oceania continent. The other metal elements have a rose gold finish just to match the entire look of the fountain pen.
A rollerball pen, a ballpoint pen as well as a sketch pencil are part of this marvelous collection.
