Caran d’Ache Leman Slim Lights – Homage to sophistication

It is no longer a secret that some of the most prestigious manufacturers in terms of writing instruments are found among Germany, France, Italy. Even Japan has some serious stuff to show off, but today I am going to present something more exquisite and luxurious. To be precise, I will talk about Caran d’Ache and its new model that will be launched soon.

Caran d’Ache is notoriously a giant in the industry of fine writing instruments and should be largely discovered by any writing instrument aficionado. Few are those who master the art of making writing instruments but when it comes to refinement, Caran d’Ache sets itself apart from others, creating some of the most unique writing instruments.

For over 100 years, the company has been producing a wide range of writing instruments such as colored pencils, graphite pencils, fountain pens, ballpoint pens, mechanical pencils, etc. But, as you certainly know, they also create some exquisite products like the honorable mention “Modernista diamond pen” which was designed with precious diamonds on it, and was classified in 1999 as “the most expensive pen in the world”. I have always been fascinated by the impressive history of a manufacturer and I think it’s nice to know that a company has been creating writing instruments for decades with the same passion and precision as in the beginning.

Today, the masterpiece in the spotlight is one of the most representative creations of Caran d’Ache with a unique design inspired by jewellery. Part of an impressive collection which established the manufacturer over time – Leman Slim Lights – is the new interpretation of luxury and the latest creation included in the Leman Collection which has paid homage to the Lake Geneva for over 20 years.

Elegance as attitude

The elegant pattern of Leman Slim Lights is characterised by the finesse of its tapered curves and along the body of the pen you can discover carved details which raises the work of the Caran d’Ache craftsmen. Decorated with beautiful baguette-cut diamond guillochage of incomparable radiance, this distinguished model designed as a majestic jewellery will be your best companion wherever you go.

Swiss made with a lot of precision by skillful craftsmen, this model is available as a fountain pen, ballpoint pen and roller pen and represents the quintessence of swiss elegance where tradition meets sophistication in the most subtle manner. Also, as a distinctive sign, every model has the Caran d’Ache logo engraved on the ring and each model can be customised on button’s ring using an engraving method but there is space for only 3 letters.

Handy but never banal

Taking each model individually, the fountain pen nib is made from rhodium-coated solid 18K gold and it comes available in 3 widths: F, M, B. In terms of weight, the fountain pen has 38g and about dimensions, its length reaches 141mm with a 10.6mm diameter. This makes this model particularly handy to carry in a large wallet as a travel companion or to keep it in the pen loop of your notebook. Many fountain pens are slightly thicker than this and are therefore pretty hard to put in the majority of the existing pen loops. When it comes to cartridges and refills, the fountain pen is provided with the same refilling system found on the other models – an ink pump – and is compatible with all small cartridges Chromatics.

The roller pen has similar characteristics to the fountain pen in terms of weight but the length is different with just 137mm and the diameter remains the same. It comes with a Caran d’Ache roller cartridge, black fine. Also, the model is compatible with all types of roller cartridge and fiber (F, M).

Furthermore, the ballpoint pen has a precision rotative mechanism for optimum user comfort. Equipped with the famous giant Goliath cartridge in medium black, it can easily cover 600 A4 pages of handwriting and it’s also compatible with all types of Goliath cartridges. It weighs only 32g, making it the lightest of all models. Its length is similar to the roller pen but only measures 9.75mm. in diameter, so much more comfortable for people with smaller hands. The clip and button are also covered in a rhodium and silver-coat and the cap button carries the characteristic Caran d’Ache in black lacquered hexagon.

As final thoughts about this beautiful masterpiece, I would say that the slim design and the sophisticated pattern of Leman Slim Lights will definitely put this model in the spotlight for 2021. We can’t wait to see it at our favorite retailer.
