Caran d’Ache pushes the boundaries of creativity with its latest edition, created in collaboration with visionary Swiss designer Kévin Germanier. What began as a Haute Couture concept has evolved into a bold, vibrant collection that fuses the designer’s rebellious spirit with the Maison’s precision in fine writing craftsmanship.
In early 2025, Germanier unveiled a jaw-dropping dress during Paris Fashion Week—entirely embellished with used Caran d’Ache pens and pencils—as part of his artistic vision. The concept traces back to his childhood, where his first encounter with the Swiss Maison’s colorful pencils sparked a lifelong fascination. “As a kid growing up in Switzerland, Caran d’Ache was everywhere: at school, at home. My first memory is of my teacher using those iconic bi-color pencils (blue and red). And of course, the moment I received my own box of Caran d’Ache colored pencils, which I still have to this day.” says the designer.

At the heart of the collection, Les Fulgureuses, lies a signature bead motif—first imagined by Germanier in 2018 and now transposed onto several of Caran d’Ache’s most iconic writing instruments.
Inside the Collection
849™ Pens & Mechanical Pencils
The iconic 849™ pen gets a neon makeover—in bright pink and green—with beaded patterns inspired by Germanier’s designs. Each pen carries the GERMANIER signature and comes in a holographic metal case. Matching mechanical pencils are also available, complete with eraser and push button.
The Ecridor™ Germanier Pen
Notably more understated than its counterparts, the Ecridor edition features a platinum-coated brass body engraved with a bead-inspired guilloche. A holographic crystal crowns the push button, adding a subtle yet striking detail. It’s presented in a neon yellow leather case made from upcycled materials—a nod to Germanier’s eco-conscious philosophy.
Creative Colour Set
The collection also includes the Les Fulgureuses Colour Set: 13 coloured pencils personally selected by the designer. Among these you’ll find: 4 neon colours as a nod to the 849™ pens, 4 bright metallic colours, as well as 5 water-soluble pencils that match the pens’ patterns. Perhaps the most exciting part of the set is the access it grants to an online Creative Class with the designer himself, inviting you to step into his artistic universe through an exclusive fashion sketching workshop.
The Exceptional Pieces
Caran d’Ache and Kévin Germanier take the collaboration a step further with The Exceptional Pieces—a curated capsule of limited editions that sits neatly at the crossroads of Haute Écriture and Haute Couture. The capsule includes a Varius Special Edition fountain pen, the iconic sharpening machine, and a wooden box set featuring 120 coloured pencils. The fountain pen is adorned with 528 crystals that are individually set by hand, and it is crowned with a semi-precious gem—an object as much about craftsmanship as it is about expression. It’s accompanied by a soft pouch and a hand-woven beaded bag, a signature element from Germanier’s artistic language.
The iconic sharpening machine has been reimagined with over a thousand hand-set crystals, transforming a desk essential into something runway-worthy. Meanwhile, the coloured pencil wooden box is adorned with more than 1,500 hand-woven beads, with each pencil individually marked with the GERMANIER logo—subtly reinforcing the designer’s presence throughout the collection.
Every Exceptional Piece comes in three vibrant colour palettes meticulously selected by Kévin Germanier. According to the Swiss brand, these nine unique pieces will be put up for auction, a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece that merges design, fashion, and exceptional craftsmanship.
A Shared Commitment to Sustainability
Although it’s an instant eye-catcher, Les Fulgureuses goes far beyond bold aesthetics, carrying a deeper meaning: a thoughtful approach to sustainability, a commitment shared by both the Swiss Maison and the fashion designer. “In my opinion, sustainability should be fully integrated in fashion during the design process, it should be the norm. True innovation comes from limitations, from finding new ways to create beauty without compromising the planet.” adds the artist.
Not only was the concept carefully considered, but so were the materials: leather sourced from dormant fashion stocks, recyclable paper inserts, and long-lasting packaging for the metal cases.
