If last year we embarked on a journey Around the World, this year Montblanc invites us to explore the fascinating beauty of the glaciers through a new Meisterstück Collection.
There is much to be said about these magnificent frozen forms that have captured the imagination of many explorers throughout the years. From how they formed (sources attest that most of them are remnants of the massive ice sheets that covered the Earth during the Ice Age) to the contribution they make to sustaining the planet’s life systems and influencing our daily lives, the glaciers are undeniably some of the nature’s most precious treasures that must be preserved unceasingly.
Looking at the statistics, it seems that global warming is having a major impact on the melting of glaciers, but there are several ways to slow down this phenomenon and we can contribute to it directly: driving less and walking more, using electricity and water wisely, saying no to plastics, keeping the environment clean, to name a few. And you will probably say: But if only I do it, what would be the effect? Well, it takes more than that for sure, but it’s all about the power of example. Then there are plenty of big companies that understand that cutting down on pollution helps the environment, among them is Montblanc that has developed a 100% plastic-free sustainable packaging for this collection, minimising the environmental impact.
To create this edition, the German brand revisited the origins that inspired its founding, the mighty Mont Blanc. Towering majestically above all other mountains in Europe, Mont Blanc is renowned for its spectacular heights, panoramic views and fascinating glaciers, which have become the theme of this year’s collection.
The collection consists of four versions of Meisterstück writing instruments with new finishes and treatments reminiscent of the mystical beauty of the ancient glaciers of Mont Blanc mountain. From the blue/grey and white tones to the new PVD coating technology giving the surface a shimmering ice-like appearance the pens have been designed to spark every user’s spirit of adventure.
Besides the Glacier LeGrand version which has a rather simplistic design, I noticed interesting details on all the other pens. Take, for example, the unique engravings on the Doué and Solitaire editions reproducing the refraction of light as it hits the ice crystals. Pretty cool, isn’t it? Then comes the Classique version in white with blue PVD-coated accents, whose purity makes it by far the most refined of the entire collection.
We all know that nib engravings have become a signature detail of Montblanc and this collection is no exception – based on the legend that the Mer de Glace glacier appears to be a giant monster hugging the northern slopes of Mont Blanc, a fine engraving shaped like a dragon adorns the nib of each pen.
Each version is also available as rollerball pen and ballpoint pen.
