The partnership between Montblanc and the italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli seems to be getting stronger and stronger as Montblanc is launching a new limited edition to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Pirelli. This is not the first time the two brands have collaborated, if you remember well the Pirelli Great Masters edition launched in 2021. However, this edition is likely to become very legendary not only because of the considerably small number of copies available, but also because of its cutting-edge design that will certainly not go unnoticed. Let’s discover it below!
While the first edition featured a more simplistic design, the Great Masters Pirelli Limited Edition 72 boasts a laboriously crafted skeletonized Au750 solid white gold overlay contrasting with a black rubber surface slightly exposed under the skeleton. Also, according to Montblanc, each pen contains small pieces of original Pirelli racing tyres with “real track history”. Pretty cool, isn’t it? Perhaps the main attraction, the skeleton, is inspired by the Pirelli logo and adorns both the barrel and cap of the pen.
The chromatics are another aspect worth talking about; as you can notice, the pen has a predominantly silver and black finish accompanied by subtle red accents that not only add a little charm to the overall cool look, but also emphasise the importance of red colour for both brands. The ink viewer, also painted in red, is slightly translucent so you can always see what’s left inside. As regarding the filling system, we are probably expecting to see a piston filling mechanism as we have seen on other similar editions. Moving on to the nib, which is handcrafted in Au750 solid white gold, it showcases a very fine engraving of the Pirelli logo commemorating the 150th anniversary.
It is rumoured that this marvellous edition will soon be available at Montblanc boutiques and online, and its price is around EUR 38,000. As soon as we get the first pictures from collectors, we will update the article.
