Bram Stoker is the latest figure to inspire Montblanc’s Writers Edition. The Irish author, whose world-famous novel Dracula has fascinated millions of readers across the globe, is honoured with a collection comprising four editions. As with every collection in the series, this one celebrates not only Bram Stoker’s literary legacy but also the transformative power of writing. To this day, writing remains one of the most authentic ways to communicate ideas and emotions while inspiring people to imagine, dream a little more, and make the world a better place.
To recreate Stoker’s universe, Montblanc has thoughtfully selected and integrated key elements and motifs into each of the four editions, playing with colors, forms, and exquisite materials such as brilliant-cut diamonds, red jasper, and solid 18k gold. The story’s most dramatic moments are evoked through an interplay of deep red and black, symbolising the mingling of blood and poison after a vampire’s bite, while subtle engravings and sculptural elements echo the psychological tension that defines the story.

Surprisingly, the collection doesn’t revolve solely around Dracula; it also reflects Stoker’s fascination with scientific progress. The silhouette of the writing instruments, as well as their cone and cap, draws inspiration from the Pravaz syringe, an important medical innovation of the 19th century. The collection also incorporates subtle details from the author’s personal life.
Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker Limited Edition
Although the simplest of the four in terms of design, the Limited Edition highlights one of the novel’s most dramatic moments: the aftermath of a vampire’s bite. Through marbled red and black precious resin, Montblanc evokes the fusion of blood and poison, echoing the battle between good and evil that lies at the heart of Dracula. It also nods to the role of science in saving lives, an idea that runs throughout the story. Ruthenium-coated fittings add contrast to the design, while the solid 18k gold nib is engraved with elements from Bram Stoker’s family coat of arms. The author’s signature appears on the cap, which also bears two small marks reminiscent of a vampire’s bite.
Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker Limited Edition 1897
Limited to 1,897 pieces a nod to the year Dracula was first published, this edition explores one of Count Dracula’s most iconic abilities: his transformation into a bat. The sculptural silhouette captures the creature at rest, with the cap and barrel shaped like folded wings. As light moves across the surface, the changing reflections add another layer of mystery to the design.
Things get a bit more exciting with this edition. It’s made of oxidised 925 sterling silver, and the ruthenium-coated fittings lend it a darker aesthetic. The mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem sits proudly on the cap, framed by red garnets that subtly recall the marks of a vampire’s bite.
The design also pays tribute to Bram Stoker’s life. As you can see on the cone, the pattern takes the shape of small columns. This motif is inspired by the columns outside London’s Lyceum Theatre, where Stoker worked as a theatre manager and found inspiration for many of the characters that would later appear in his writing. It’s such a clever way to integrate that detail into the cone’s overall aesthetic, and it fits perfectly.
Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker Limited Edition 93
Limited to just 93 pieces, this edition marks the year 1893, when Bram Stoker began writing Dracula. Rather than focusing on vampires alone, Montblanc turns its attention to another side of the author: his fascination with science, medicine, and technological progress. Those interests are reflected throughout the novel, particularly in Professor Abraham Van Helsing, who relies on knowledge and reason to confront the supernatural.
That idea is reflected in the design, which is much more elaborate this time. In fact, Montblanc gives it an almost scientific appearance, at least in my view. The open sections of the barrel reveal parts of the internal mechanism, while details inspired by the Pravaz syringe reinforce the connection to 19th-century medicine.
With this edition, the Maison went a step further. It used solid 18k white gold with a blackened finish that highlights the intricate engravings across the surface. The exposed mechanical components and the cone are decorated with Celtic knots drawn by Stoker’s sister, Matilda, a subtle detail that many could easily overlook, but one that adds another personal connection to the author. The cap carries ornate engravings inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, alongside elements from the Stoker family crest.
At the top sits a red jasper Montblanc emblem flanked by two garnets, while the ruthenium- and rhodium-coated 18k gold nib is engraved with motifs from the family’s heraldry. It’s worth noting how all these elements come together in such harmony, without the design ever feeling excessive.
Writers Edition Homage to Bram Stoker Limited Edition 8
Limited to just eight pieces worldwide, this is undoubtedly the most sophisticated edition in the collection. Instead of drawing inspiration from Dracula himself, like on the previous editions, Montblanc turns to the symbols used to protect people from vampires throughout the novel. A floral composition of garlic and wild rose motifs appears across the writing instrument, both long associated with warding off evil. To give the design depth, the craftsmen combine hand-applied enamel, mother-of-pearl inlays and intricate engraving.
Judging by the number of brilliant-cut diamonds and red garnets that adorn its 18k gold body, one could easily place this edition in high jewellery territory. The floral motif continues onto the cone and forepart, where it has been precisely laser engraved. At the top, the Montblanc emblem is set in pavé diamonds and framed by red jasper, while the 18k gold nib features a three-dimensional engraving finished with a single diamond.
Montblanc also created a few matching accessories on the occasion . A special purple ink accompanies the writing instrument, alongside a black velvet notebook decorated with the same floral pattern found on the pen – a must-have, according to some seasoned collectors I had the pleasure of talking to. For those who want a bit of Stoker’s universe on their wrists, there is also a pair of round steel cufflinks set with red jasper.
