Pelikan Introduces the New M205 Apatite Special Edition

I could go on and on about it, but I’ll put it simply: matching pens with inks is cool. Why? I would say why not. And I’m not the only one who thinks so given that Pelikan had already been doing it since 2015 when they launched the first duo of this kind – the Pelikan m205 Amethyst complementing that year’s Edelstein ink in the same shade as well. This year is no exception, as the German brand will soon launch the new m205 Apatite model, coming as a sequel to the ink launched at the end of 2021.

While the iconic Souverän series is the one that gets all the praise when it comes to Pelikan, I personally have a fondness for the brand’s classic models as well, being the owner of a vintage M200 edition from 1997 (which not only works perfectly, but looks great too). However, I’m sure I’m not the only one who likes these classics as I see many owners of M-series in the community.

So what should you expect from the new M205 Apatite? Well, Pelikan will launch this special edition as a demonstrator, as they did with the previous editions, which I think is nice, all the more so for demonstrator enthusiasts. Since the pen will take the silhouette of a M205, there’s nothing to mention in that regard (there are the same design elements you’re already familiar with including the Pelikan logo on the cap’s finial, the decorative rings or the Pelikan beak clip ).

But let’s take a look at the colour, which appears to be a turquoise blue, just like the ink. This is a very cool addition to the line-up and I have to admit I really like it! Worth mentioning are also the chromium accents that complement this unique shade of blue.

The new M205 will feature a nicely polished stainless steel nib available in EF, F, M, and B to meet all users’ preferences and the famous Pelikan differential piston mechanism. There’s also a ballpoint pen version in the same shades that completes the collection.

If you’re planning to add this piece to your collection, check its availability at your local authorised dealers. The fountain pen is priced at €143.00, while the ballpoint pen at €122.00, a more than decent price for what you get.
