This Spring Brings Two New Colors in Sailor’s Kyoto Garden Collection

Spring has a unique way of reminding us that sometimes, all we need is a fresh start. I’ve always found inspiration in nature’s rebirth and have applied this principle of renewal in my life. From time to time, I like to change something – sometimes it’s a new notebook, other times a new pen. It gives me that boost to start with greater motivation in both my personal life and work. Speaking of new pens and fresh starts, Sailor has just announced new designs in the Kyoto Garden collection. I think I may have found a new favorite. Let’s explore them together!

Unlike the previous editions, the new designs feature two vibrant color combinations on the same 1911 Large chassis, drawing inspiration from the tranquility and beauty of the Kyoto Garden. The collection consists of two models: the Icho version, with its radiant golden yellow, embodies the grand leaves of the Ginkgo, the majestic tree, while the Nishiki Goi, with its deep red hue, echoes the iconic koi carp.

I’m usually drawn to darker colors, but I really appreciate Sailor’s fresh approach with this new collection. There’s something captivating about the rich hues that feel perfectly in tune with the essence of Kyoto Garden. When I think of Kyoto Garden, I imagine a serene oasis filled with contrasting colors. Sailor has captured this harmony beautifully in their new designs, and it’s hard not to fall in love with the vibrant yet tranquil aesthetic.

With this collection, Sailor invites us to embrace moments of tranquility and reflection, encouraging us to slow down, write, and unwind. I think we all need these moments from time to time – now more than ever. In a world where we constantly rush from one task to another, this collection serves as a gentle reminder to pause and find solace in the simple act of putting pen to paper.

Although I usually prefer the classic older Sailor designs, I find the ringless version quite attractive. If you’re into cleaner aesthetics, these pens offer a more contemporary look and you should consider them. But beyond the sleek design, the real magic lies in the nib. As always, it’s crafted from 21k gold and comes in a wide range of sizes, from extra-fine to music nibs, ensuring a smooth writing experience.

Whether you choose the Icho model or the Nishiki Goi, each fountain pen comes with a 20ml bottle of ink, a Kyoto Garden-themed bookmark, and a converter for easy filling.

The new models are limited to just 250 numbered pieces per design and are exclusively available at authorized retailers in Europe.
