Because recently I’ve heard many people complaining that they don’t have enough occasions to practice handwriting, I’ve decided to give you a few tips that might eventually lead you to use your pens more. You might as well display your pens in a case on your desk and stare at them every day, but is that what a pen is for? Collecting is cool but let’s not forget the primary purpose of these writing instruments that have shaped our world for hundreds of years.
Write your grocery list
It may seem silly, but it’s a fairly common practice that can be done with a fountain pen. All you need is a small notebook, or some high-quality post-it notes. You can make a shopping list while enjoying your coffee at the office, or on a leisurely weekend afternoon.
Take notes during business meetings
Business meetings are another great occasion to use your fountain pen, but you can also take the opportunity to show it off. However, don’t make it too obvious. Take a notebook with you and write down everything that needs to be written down. At first you may not be able to keep up with all the ideas but your writing pace will improve considerably over time.
Write a to-do list
This practice will not only get you to use your pen regularly, but it will also help you be more organized. While there are several ways to write a daily to-do list, experts suggest you start writing it the night before. In addition to the relaxed state you’re in, you save considerable time the next day. A glass of whisky, though optional, is a perfect match.
Jot down your ideas
If you work in a creative field, chances are you’ll come up with lots of ideas during the day and of course you don’t want them to slip through your fingers. Ditch the ‘Notes’ on your iPhone and go for a notebook-pen combo instead.
However, I think what’s most important is to make sure you never leave the house without a fountain pen and a notebook. You never know when you have to use them.
