5 Scented Inks to Consider This Spring

As we dive into the spring season, the quest for refreshing and inspiring inks gains momentum. Among the myriad choices, Otto Hutt’s spring collection of inks stands out, not just for its vibrant colors but also for its unique scented compositions. Each ink in this collection is designed to evoke a particular scent, transforming the act of writing into a sensory journey. Here are five great inks that you can consider this spring. Have a look, get inspired by their shades, and transform your writing or drawing experience.

Spring Mountain – Basil (link)

Basil-scented ink? Well, as real as it gets. Slightly gourmet, I’d say, because it’s already got me thinking about a freshly baked Margherita pizza and my basil pot that I’ve been growing as a hobby for a while now. If you are into green inks, you’ll love this one, for its beautiful shade as well. And it’s also quite pigmented, at least for my taste.

Pink Lake – Sakura (link)

Inspired by the name of the Japanese cherry blossom, this ink is an invitation to the land of the rising sun. Imagine taking notes with Mount Fuji on the horizon while surrounded by the vibrant pink of the cherry blossoms around you. I would compare this ink to Graf von Faber-Castell’s Yozakura in terms of shade, but I like that here I also have the scent.

Mist – Cedar (link)

If you are a hiking enthusiast, you’ll love this scented ink. It encapsulates the serene essence of spring mornings high in the mountains surrounded by cedar trees, where the air carries a whisper of chill and the world is softly veiled in mist. This ink is designed for the reflective soul who finds solace in the early hours, sipping a coffee on a terrace, gazing out at the majestic mountains bathed in the gentle light of dawn. Are you already picturing yourself there? Because I am.

Sunrise – Japanese Peach (link)

Those of you who are lucky or locals have probably already tasted the famous Japanese peaches (harder to get, at least in Europe), renowned for their honey-like sweetness. Thank God Otto Hutt launched this scent so we can at least indulge in the scent until we get to Japan for the real experience. The scent of this ink is pretty subtle, as is the color, but it perfectly reflects the identity of the fruit, I presume.

Blue Sky – Lilies (link)

This ink is an homage to the tranquil beauty of a clear blue sky, matched only by the enchanting fragrance of blooming lilies. I guess I’ve always been fascinated by the shade of blue, but especially the light ones. I choose this color whenever I need to get my thoughts in order. Then, I open my notebook and start a new, blank page. It always brings me inner peace and guidance. Now that it comes with this lovely scent, I like it even more. It’s like a clear spring day, heralding new beginnings.
