News: Schneider Schreibgeräte GmbH Acquires Renowned Nib Producer Peter Bock AG

Good news for the fountain pen industry, which seems to be on a lucky streak. As of January 1, 2025 Schneider Schreibgeräte GmbH will acquire Peter Bock AG in Heidelberg, the well-known company for its expertise in nib production. According to Schneider, the acquisition was made official on November 5, 2024 following intensive negotiations.

Known for their ergonomic design and functionality, Schneider had been seeking solutions to internally develop their nib production for some time, aiming for greater control over the writing system. Now that this opportunity has arisen, it is paving the way to new horizons.

“The Peter Bock AG family has not been operationally active in the business for years but sought to place the company in qualified hands, ensuring the continuation of the business at the Heidelberg location and preserving jobs for the employees.” according to a press release on the German manufacturer’s website.

Schneider will not only benefit from Peter Bock AG’s location in Heidelberg, but also from its 40 well-trained employees as well as a production and administrative areas covering some 3,000 m², including its own tool manufacturing facilities. The legal independence of Peter Bock AG will be maintained, but the company will be part of the Schneider Group.

With both companies sharing similarities with high-standard philosophies and practices, we can only see this move as a new chapter that will bring a new breath of fresh air to the writing instrument industry.
