Pelikan Introduces the New Edelstein® Ink of the Year 2026 – Pyrite

Every year, Pelikan turns to some of the most unique precious gemstones in the world to find its muse for the next ink color. This year, the brand drew inspiration from the Pyrite gemstone and its charming brilliance to launch the new Edelstein® Ink of the Year 2026.

“Like the precious Pyrite stone, which symbolizes vitality, protection, and confidence, this ink transforms ordinary writing into an expression of power and refinement,” states Pelikan about its new shade.

I can’t help but notice the resemblance to the Edelstein Golden Beryl edition – a detail that many enthusiasts familiar with the Edelstein lineup have probably noticed as well. Except that Pyrite boasts a metallic, golden-gray tone compared to the warmer shade of the 2021 ink, which I tend to prefer a little more.

On paper, the ink opens up as a bright metallic gold with a pronounced sheen that reflects light across the page. The saturation is quite strong, creating a rich appearance that is consistent throughout. The fine, shiny particles are evenly distributed along the entire length of the line, producing a subtle sparkle effect that gives the writing a textured look mimicking molten gold.

Pelikan describes the writing experience with its newest ink just as remarkable as the shade itself, making it suitable for a wide range of writing scenarios – from journaling and creative writing to note-taking and correspondence – elevating every stroke with its luminous shimmer.

The ink is expected to be available at authorised dealers from April 2026, which means a few more weeks of patience for enthusiasts and collectors.
