Montegrappa x Paolo Favaretto: Anytime

Over the years, I have seen writing instruments with various complications that I never imagined possible: from the impressive Richard Mille mechanical pen to the Caran d’Ache Timegraph, the brands’ creativity and innovative spirit have always fascinated me. Speaking of innovation and intricate features, I would like to introduce you to the latest release of Montegrappa – the ‘Anytime’ edition created in collaboration with renowned designer Paolo Favaretto.

Before I dive into specifics, I’ll say right away that this pen will be on the radar of many collectors.

The collaboration between Montegrappa and Paolo Favaretto is no surprise given the designer’s background as well as his fondness for writing instruments (Favaretto being a pen collector himself). However, the result is a wonderful surprise indeed.

Paolo Favaretto is an Italian designer known for his innovative creations. With a career spanning over three decades, Favaretto has made significant contributions to various fields such as industrial design, furniture design, and interior design, his work being a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics, often incorporating clean lines, organic forms, and bold colors.

At first glance, you could say it’s an edition with a minimalist design and clean aesthetics, and you wouldn’t be wrong with that, but this design leaves room for the complications to stand out. Crowning the end of the cap, a perpetual calendar steals the show with its intricate functions: three rotary dials allow users to adjust date, day and month with haptics and mechanical locking adopted from Montegrappa’s acclaimed ratchet piston-fill mechanism.

Available as Fountain Pen and Rollerball Pen, the edition comes in two colors – Maestro (black) and Supremo (a beautiful shade of burgundy) both limited to 365 copies worldwide (numbered on the piston knob).  Although the centerpiece of this edition is the perpetual calendar, I also like the custom 18k gold nib for its unique design.

The fountain pen is priced at € 2,595 while the rollerball pen at € 1,995. Visit montegrappa.com to purchase this spectacular edition or contact your local authorized retailers.
