Every year, Pelikan launches an ink inspired by the most spectacular gemstones, paying homage to handwriting with vibrant and unique colours. To the delight of enthusiasts who eagerly await this edition, Pelikan has recently announced the Ink of the Year 2024 – inspired by a gemstone once considered a jewel of kings, the Golden Lapis.
While last year it was all about rose quartz, this year’s shade is a gorgeous blue with golden shimmer (as the 2021 Golden Beryl edition). For those who love shimmery inks, this one is probably already on their list, however, there is no ink sample published, so we can’t say for sure how it looks on paper. In the press release photo, the color seems interesting (although it is very similar to the Emerald de Chivor produced by Herbin).
The new inks are expected by March, opening the spring season. As in previous years, the batch of these inks is limited to the current year, so make sure to get your hands on a few bottles. The bottles are priced at €18 at authorized retailers.
Hopefully, we’ll be able to test the ink in person soon to get a better look at the color and how it behaves on paper.
