Sailor Expands the King of Pen Kaga Urushi Line with Three New European Exclusives

Sailor has just announced three new additions to its Kaga Urushi line, renowned among collectors and enthusiasts worldwide for its vivid colors and impeccable Urushi finish. Following the 2021 launch of twelve Urushi colors with gold trim, the Japanese brand now expands the collection with three European exclusives featuring ruthenium trim: Wine Red, Teal Blue, and Pine Green.

Since its debut, the King of Pen Urushi has represented the pinnacle of Sailor’s artistry. In fact, the Kaga Urushi line is, in my opinion, the gateway to Sailor’s more exclusive creations. Most collectors I’ve spoken to have shown genuine appreciation for this series, and I can see why.

Built on the 1911 King of Pen chassis, this line differs from the standard model by being ringless and, of course, made of ebonite and finished with Urushi lacquer, allowing the material to flow seamlessly across the cap and barrel. The result is a flawless, uninterrupted surface that lets you fully appreciate the depth and beauty of the finish.

Each pen is equipped with a 21k gold nib, highly praised for its smoothness and generous size, featuring the new Sailor logo. If you’re unsure about the true colors, you’re not alone. The images hardly do justice to the real beauty of these pens, which I highly recommend seeing in person.

As soon as the pens arrive and we’re able to photograph them ourselves, I’ll make sure to update the article.
