Montblanc Muses Elizabeth Taylor Special Edition – As purple as her lovely eyes

Being an actor may not be that hard, some say, but there are only a few talented people in the industry who have made history over the years. One of these people is none other than Elizabeth Taylor, the British-American actress and activist – the latest  “muse” to be celebrated with a special edition writing instrument. Before we dive into the collection itself, let’s briefly discover the successful career of the girl with the Purple Eyes.

Elizabeth Taylor made her film debut in 1942 when starred in One Born Every Minute, but most of us know her from movies such as “Cleopatra”, “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”, or “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?”, to name a few. Many claim that performing was in Taylor’s blood due to the fact that her mother worked as an actress until she married. She was undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses in the golden age of Hollywood but there many other facts for which she will forever be remembered. We won’t mention aspects of her private life, but you should know that she had an impressive jewellery collection for which she is also famous.

We’ve already mentioned her lovely eyes, but here’s an aspect that needs to be clarified. Even though she was rumoured to have purple eyes, they were never purple, in fact, her eyes were dark blue, but they contained a certain amount of melanin and that made them appear a little bit purple.

Now, let’s discover the collection that perfectly reflects the independent spirit, beauty and charisma of the Elizabeth Taylor. The overall design of this Special Edition is mainly inspired by the aesthetics of the 1950s and 1960s, the period in which Elizabeth achieved stardom in Hollywood. With a shape reminiscent of an original Montblanc writing instrument from the same period, the pen is covered with a dark-violet marbleised lacquer in homage to Elizabeth Taylor’s ravishing eyes, and the star’s favourite colour.

Elizabeth’s passion for jewellery also serves as inspiration for the ring-shaped clip, an instant eye-catcher for its unique shape. If you look closer at the platinum-plated cone you’ll notice that its engraving is inspired by a particular jewellery pattern from the 1950s. Those who watched the GLAAD Media Awards in 2000 and listened to Elizabeth Taylor’s moving speech which ended with the words “Long Live Love” will truly appreciate the detail engraved on the 14k gold nib.

The Montblanc Muses Elizabeth Taylor is also available as a rollerball pen and ballpoint pen and we firmly believe that many women will gift themselves such a beautiful writing instrument in memory of Elizabeth Taylor, perhaps the most iconic and influential leading women of the 20th century.
