The Montblanc Meisterstück 149 with Calligraphy nib was such a masterpiece. For calligraphy artists but also for fans of the iconic 149 it was probably one of the most important launches. Much coveted at the time and cherished for its flexibility, the nib has recently been reintroduced to the market, this time on a Meisterstück LeGrand. And because Montblanc’s innovative spirit is always alive, today I’m going to introduce you to the Montblanc Curved nib – the latest development of the German brand.
If the Calligraphy nib allowed a wide range of strokes, from thin to very broad, the Curved nib – ground at a 45˚ angle, is no exception. Ideal for intricate Chinese, Japanese and Korean calligraphy, this nib is also an excellent companion for sketching and drawing providing some line variations that many calligraphy artists are looking for. After all, it is the variety of lines that enhances the beauty of handwriting.

Montblanc states that depending on the angle of the curved nib on paper, the calligrapher can achieve wide horizontal lines, thin vertical lines and even fine lines (for detailed drawings) by turning the nib upside down.

The quality of the nib is guaranteed by a rigorous 35-step process every nib goes through. Here, from the selection of the gold to the final shape of the nib, master craftsmen ensure that everything meets Montblanc’s quality standards.

Enthusiasts and collectors will be able to enjoy this NEW 18k gold nib on the iconic Montblanc Meisterstück 149 from December 2022. Soon available at Montblanc boutiques, online and at authorised retailers.
