Montegrappa once again takes inspiration from the epic series “Lord of the Rings” carrying us around the fantasy realms of Middle-earth with a special archival reissue that elevates the traditional craftsmanship of the brand and celebrates the captivating narrative of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novel.
Comprising three versions of writing instruments: a fountain pen, a rollerball pen as well as a ballpoint pen, the collection offered in a small-batch exudes an antique flair while maintaining a modern Italian design.
A satin-black resin combined with ruthenium-tinted brass accents evoke the darkness that descends upon Middle-earth while the historical and heraldry marks adorning each pen bring us closer to the story of the precious ring. In fact, there’s a very detailed ancient map of Middle-earth encircling the cap, so one can form its Fellowship and set out on one’s own adventure through Tolkien’s iconic land of Middle-earth.
Perhaps the central motif which can also be seen as the innovative element of the collection is the Eye of Sauron applied in high-grade Super-LumiNova® enamel at the base of the clip. And here comes the most exciting detail, which I think Lord of the Rings fans will be most excited about: right below the cap’s finial there’s a removable ring – a faithful interpretation of the famous One Ring engraved with the Tengwar script and made of gilded brass, symbolises the powers of darkness.
