When it comes to the world of fountain pens, few names evoke a sense of timeless elegance and unparalleled craftsmanship quite like Sailor. Among their esteemed collection of writing instruments, the Sailor 1911 series stands as a true testament to the brand’s commitment to excellence. Well-known for its classic cigar shape, this pen is one of the safe choices of those who want quality and a more understated design.
In addition to the black, brown and white versions that the brand has in its portfolio, Sailor has recently launched a new version made of Sterling Silver according to the announcement on the official website. Although it’s a standalone edition, its design is slightly reminiscent of the metallic ringless collection launched in 2022.
However, Sailor went the extra mile with this edition and replaced the precious resin with a luxurious material, giving the pen a whole new look and sense of quality. The other gold-coloured elements harmoniously complement the meticulously polished silver, adding a glamorous twist.
As expected, the edition comes equipped with an in-house 21k nib that the Japanese brand is famous for, ensuring an unparalleled writing experience. At around 49g this edition is a little on the heavier side, weighing even more than its German counterpart – designC by Otto Hutt. However, for those used to such weight, it shouldn’t affect the writing experience in any way. To be honest, lately I’ve come to appreciate a slightly heavier pen more because it makes me feel like I’m holding a quality piece in my hand.
The new Sailor 1911 Sterling Silver will soon be available at any authorised retailers.
